Paul Prescott is an instructor in the Department of Philosophy at Syracuse University. His research focuses on issues in ethics, with an emphasis on moral psychology and philosophy of psychiatry. His doctoral work is devoted to developing and defending a theory of pessimism capable of accounting for the epistemic and prudential conditions under which pessimism is warranted. He currently teaches applied and professional ethics for the Newhouse School of Public Communications and the Consortium for Culture and Medicine.
